Associate Professor Manabu Makinodan and colleagues from the ICBS have published a review article in the international journal Current Opinion in Neurobiology.
Tsutomu Takeda, Manabu Makinodan, and Nakao Iwata et al. have published a comprehensive review on the impacts of childhood experiences in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This review emcompasses the latest research findings from the perspectives of genomics and neuroimaging etc.
Research using mouse models by Makinodan et al. has demonstrated that early social experiences play a crucial role in shaping adult behavior, revealing that specific brain structures and neural circuits are involved in this process. In addition, studies involving MRI and EEG in human subjects have shown that childhood experiences significantly affect the development of mental health symptoms, brain structures, and neural circuits in adulthood.
This review synthesizes the latest domestic and international research findings on the impacts of childhood experiences in individuals with ASD, providing an important reference for future basic and clinical research. The paper has been published in the international academic journal Current Opinion in Neurobiology.
