Message from Professor
Welcome to our homepage: Department of biochemistry, Fujita Health University. Our lab has a history of over 45 years since it was first established in 1974. I was appointed to the professor of Biochemistry in August 2018, in succession to Professor Harada. I will make every effort to keep and promote the tradition of our lab.
I started my career as a doctor specialized in pulmonary diseases, and provided medical care for lung cancer patients in clinics. I became more interested in the presence of tissue differentiation in cancer tissues and their roles in cancer progression. Fortunately, I had a chance to study cancer stem cell theory, which solidified my vague idea into firm concept.
As a witness of the expansion of the theory which was initiated by original view point, we hope to proceed with our researches that are initiated by our own idea.
We mainly focus on the roles of cancer stem cells in cancer progression.
In collaboration with clinicians, we aim to clarify the roles of adiocytes in cancer progression and the ways to target cancer stem cells. Furthermore, we will continue to study on the roles of estrogen in nervous system and cancers.
The motto of Fujita Health University is ‘Dokuso-Ichi-Ri’, which means 'Our Creativity for the People'. I feel lucky having a chance to join the university with this motto. I wish to make research environment where each researcher has own vision, thinks deeply, and strongly performs research for future career development. And I wish our activities help to contribute medical and scientific research communities.
Thanking to the mentors who kindly and sometines strictly guided me, I hope to assist the vision of staff members. Please contact us if you are interested in our lab. We try hard to make a big difference in future. Thanking again for your visit to our home page, and we definitely and highly appreciate your kind advice and supports for us.
