Assembly II is the program in which “group skills” are acquired. Faculty and administrative staff in charge of the program are responsible for ensuring that, through the program, students: set clear goals and complete the project, step forward for their own team with their own intention, identify issues and think out the solutions. At the workshop held on 12th July, faculty and administrative staff in charge of the program identified the challenges of Assembly II.
This workshop’s theme was set as the “Development of solutions for issues and challenges identified at the first workshop.” The 38 participants discussed the solutions after the opening remarks of Prof. Ohtsuki, Director of the Center for The Assembly Education. Working in teams, participants devised solutions from various perspectives.

Workshop participants

Group work

Prof. Kazuhiro Nishii, Deputy Director of the Center for The Assembly Education (in charge of Assembly II), shared a summary of the first workshop as a reminder of the issues and challenges identified. Each group was assigned to discuss challenges of projects, activity periods, faculty, students or the assessments and lively discussion took place to devise solutions, despite the limited one-hour timeframe.

Presentation and Discussion

A representative from each group made a presentation on their group’s proposed solutions, and other groups made comments for further development. The discussion was a valuable opportunity to gather ideas to improve Assembly II.
Due to COVID-19 this year, all Assembly Education activities have not been able to be conducted face-to-face. However, Assembly II is being transformed into a new online format for students to learn inter-professional mindset by participating in regional alliance project activities.

Closing Note

Prof. Masatsugu Ohtsuki

In closing, Prof. Ohtsuki summarized all suggestions presented by each of the groups, and committed to developing Assembly II to become even more attractive to students, faculty and administrative staff by making the most out of those suggestions.
